Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills

This ABC Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills QCF qualification enables you to work towards becoming a reflective practitioner of counselling.  The course philosophy is based on helping each student to build on their existing knowledge and a key part of this is recognising and valuing difference and diversity within the student and teaching body. It also provides knowledge and understanding of the three main core theories and theorists that underpin counseling and addresses the nature of psychological problems and how they may be approached.

The aim is to build a learning environment where students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning within a climate that is both supportive and challenging. Prospective learners should be aware that the course involves experiential learning self-awareness exercises, which will be demanding of the self in interaction with others.

Please note that this the course engages you in a experiential and self-explorative learning process and you must be willing to commit yourself fully to the personal, professional, theoretical understanding and academic developmental process.  


With this course you will have access to your own personal tutor who, it is your personal tutor's role to ensure that you receive constructive feedback and to deal with any queries you may have. You will also have access to a dedicated and friendly team of administrators and course advisors who offer sound and professional guidance and advice when you need it. This ensures that you will never feel neglected and that you will always succeed!


 Learners who successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills may progress the level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.


Assessment is continuous throughout the course and you build a widespread portfolio of evidence which includes case studies, essays, client and supervision logs, video recordings, a group research project and personal and professional development work. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.


This programme will require you to attend the Rapha Well-being centre for 1 day a week over 6 months  from 10.00am to 4.30pm.  You will undertake a range of group and one-to-one activities.  Light refreshments are provided.
